Ancient Chinese healing methods are based in the philosophy that everyone has the ability within themselves to unlock their healing potential. Qi (chi) is a central concept in Chinese culture and translates to “vital energy” or “life force”. It is believed that the state of one’s qi directly affects one’s health, and that health and longevity will be optimized if the qi of the body is balanced and free flowing. Ways in which one can achieve this is through energy work, such as acupuncture or external qi (chi) healing, clean lifestyle, Qi Gong exercise, and meditation.
From a western perspective, science has shown that these modalities work through regulating the central nervous system and may actually alter brain chemistry. These modalities have been shown to regulate hormones, boost the immune system, increase circulation, decrease inflammation, and induce relaxation.
